Class Descriptions

 

Allign with Intention:  Develop discernment by mindfully bringing body and purpose together with each posture you practice.  

Gentle: Learn to explore you capabilities with compassion and awareness. This class uses purposeful movements that nourish the body. 

Hatha 1: Appropriate for beginner or those interested in a gently paced class.  Class will focus on alignment, modification of poses and integration of movements with breath.  Posture flow changes every week and is designed to help you explore you body's flexibility, strength and endurance.  

Hatha 2: Experience a new series of postures each week with integration of breathwork (pranayama) and an invitation to move into stillness.  Class invites participants to explore stamina in mind and body with longer holds and more challenging posture sequences. 

Hatha 3: Appropriate for experienced practitioners interested in moving inward.  A leisurely paced class where posture are designed to release tension and challenge physical boundaries safely.  Class can include chanting and different forms of meditation. 

Intro to Yoga: An introduction to hatha yoga for the novice.  Learn breathing techniques and a basic series of yoga poses.  Practice safe alignment as you discover and challenge physical boundaries. 

Moving into Stillness:  Achieve a state of being where concentration is more easily experienced.  These sequenced posture flows are designed to help clam the drunken monkey mind.

Yoga for Back Care:Help minimize back strain by learning techniques to release tight muscles and gently build strength while exploring your flexibility. 

Release of Tension:  Use the practice of yoga to help the body release tension.  Practice a variety of postures with slow purposeful movements.  A great way to end the work day.

Special Topics:Deepen your yoga practice.  A class for the yoga aficionado.  Topics include in depth postures, and or meditation.  Group chooses yoga topics to be explored.  Participation in class in based on instructor permission.

Sunrise Yoga:Greet the morning with a series of postures that will leave you relaxed yet balanced with enough energy to take on the rest of the your day.  

Yoga Nidra: is a wonderful practice of self awareness derived from ancient yogic teachings.  You simply rest comfortable on the floor with the support of a bolster and blankets.  You are then guided into a state of "conscious sleep" where you can connect with your physical body and release deep inner tensions and related belief systems.  This class is designed for anyone wanting to explore self inquiry and/ or relaxation or those seeking to enhance an existing meditation practice.
